On January 11, 2005 Rosa Lee Harden completed a very successful three-year term as President of the Blue Devils. Her hard work, leadership, wisdom and generosity resulted in one of the most successful and energetic periods in Blue Devils history.
Under her guidance, the Blue Devils attained new levels of artistic excellence and set a course for long-term financial stability.
Among the many accomplishments during Rosa Lee's presidency are:
- An unprecedented eleventh DCI World Championship in 2003 by the A Corps
- Two trips to Japan by the A Corps
- Planning for 2005 European trip by the A Corps
- Trip to the 2004 DCI Division II Finals by the B Corps
- Implementation of new management team by the B Corps
- Continued excellence and program expansion by the C Corps
- 2004 WGI Open Guard Silver Medal by the Winter Guard
- Trip to Scandinavia by the Diablo Wind Symphony
- Performance by the Diablo Wind Symphony with Allen Vizzutti
- Recognition as one of the top wind symphonies in the state of California by the Diablo Wind Symphony
- The formation of the new venture, BDEntertainment, which delivers the Blue Devils experience to broader audience bases
- The launching of The Bingo Arcade, the successful electronic gaming outlet dedicated to fundraising for the organization
- Renaming of the the umbrella organization from "The Blue Devils Parents Association" to "BD Performing Arts"
Rosa Lee, we thank you for your wonderful service to the Blue Devils. We are forever grateful!
The Blue Devils will continue to be in capable hands with the election of John M. Donovan, who succeeds Rosa Lee as President of the BD Performing Arts Board of Directors. John is the Director of Information Systems and Technology for Microdyne Outsourcing Inc., headquartered in the Los Angeles area - a leading global contact center network manager and provider of award-winning 24/7 technical support, customer care, depot repair and refurbishment, and electronic support solutions to a variety of high-tech organizations and businesses. He is responsible for all voice, network, and data infrastructure, as well as all corporate information systems. John is a former trumpet and flugelhorn player, a soloist in his nationally-ranked High School Marching and Jazz bands
- which may have influenced his sons' interest in performing. John and his wife, Darlene, are the proud parents of Blue Devils A Corps Alumni - John (2001) and Tom (2002-2004), and future Blue Devil (?) - Kathryn. John joined the The Blue Devils Board of Directors in 2003.
Also elected were Todd Tanji, Vice President; Kit Rodgers, Treasurer; and Carole Henderson, Secretary. Rosa Lee continues on the Board of Directors as a Member at Large.
