Founded just a few years ago as a program of BD Performing Arts, the Blue Devils Special Needs Guard exists to provide excellent learning and performance experiences for young people who aspire to achieve greatness. The program encourages its performers to overcome obstacles, to learn the value of teamwork, and to appreciate the joy of performance.
The ensemble rehearses one night per week throughout the academic year, and performs at the California Color Guard Circuit Championships as well as the Blue Devils Family Day. The appreciation the Guard receives from fellow performers and spectators at these events is incredibly heartwarming, and a highlight of the year for many, many individuals.
The Blue Devils Special Needs Guard welcomes new members between the ages of 12 and 25 years old. Both males and females are welcome, and no experience is necessary. The performance will be taught with basic dance moves, traveling combinations, and flag technique.
The Blue Devils Special Needs Guard held its 2017 orientation and first rehearsal on Monday, October 3 at the New Life Christian Fellowship in Concord, CA. The next rehearsal will take place on Monday, October 10 at 7pm at the same location
The staff looks forward to a fun and exciting season with all performers, returning and new!
