Blue Devils in Europe - 2005

Buckle up...2005 will be a GRAND EXPERIENCE indeed. An exciting, once in a lifetime, adventure awaits our fans in Europe and The Blue Devil 2005 performers. The Blue Devils will open the 2005 season with their home show, Precision West, on Saturday June 18th. The next day the corps embarks from San Francisco, on a three-week tour of Europe sponsored by Dynasty USA and our European hosts, Muremo/Dynasty Europe, Drum Corps Europe, VLAMO West Vlaanderen, Italian Marching Show Bands, The City of Kerkrade, Holland and the Kerkrade World Music Contest Foundation.

Upon arrival in Amsterdam, The Blue Devils will transfer to their housing site in La Gorgue, France to prepare for their first performance at a Drum Corps Europe contest sponsored by DCE and Muremo/Dynasty Europe at the KV Kortrijk Football Stadium, Guldensporen Stadium, in the town of Kortrijk, Belgium on Saturday June 25th. The Blue Devils will compete with Holland, German and England's top drum corps. With a visit to the medieval city of Brugge and the beautiful city of Calais in Northern France, this will be an incredible way to begin The Blue Devils European adventure.

Then it's on to "The City of Lights"...Paris. With the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame, the Arc de Triomphe and Sacre Coeur before them, the corps will have two days to explore and experience the essence of the most beautiful and exhilarating city in the World.

After their time in Paris, The Blue Devils will continue their journey to the Lombardy region of Northern Italy for six days of performances and sightseeing in Milan, Venice, Modena and Lecco, site of the Italian Marching Band Championships on Sunday July 3rd sponsored by the Italian Marching Show Bands Association.

The culmination of the tour will be an opportunity to compete in a truly unique event. Every 4 years Kerkrde, Holland is the site for the World Music Contest. Three hundred groups from 30 countries compete in this prestigious 4-week long celebration of the musical marching activity. The Blue Devils will compete at the World Music Contest on Saturday July 9th.

After The Blue Devil European odyssey, they will return to one of America’s busiest airports, Chicago’s O’Hare, to join the DCI Summer Music Games Tour tentatively scheduled to compete at the North Regional in Kalamazoo, Michigan on Saturday July 16th.

The Blue Devils are excited about participating in these three unique European pageantry events, with an opportunity to showcase their 2005 production "Dance Derby of the Century" before thousands of fans across Europe, as well as help continue the amazing growth of the marching band / drum corps activity

This will be an experience of a lifetime for The Blue Devil members, and give them an opportunity to enjoy a variety of diverse cultures, traditions, customs and contemporary lifestyles of the world community through performances and personal interaction. To quote the esteemed President of The Italian Marching Show Bands, Mr. Felice Cattaneo "To know the millennial culture and tradition of European people means to learn and better understand the story of humanity.
