Diablo Wind Symphony Features Violinist Philip Santos

The Diablo Wind Symphony will present its third concert of the season on Tuesday March 3, 7:30 pm, at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek. The concert features the famed violin soloist Philip Santos performing Max Bruch's Violin Concerto No.1 in g minor.

The DWS will also perform The Earle of Oxford's Marche (Jacob), Shepherd's Hey (Grainger) Second Suite in F for Military Band (Holst), Pilatus: Mountain of Dragons (Reineke), Overture from The Marriage of Figaro (Mozart), and Under The Double Eagle March (J. Wagner).

Philip Santos has performed with the San Francisco Symphony, principal in the Fremont Philharmonic, and performs with other major orchestras and several chamber music groups in the Bay Area. He is Professor of violin at CSU East Bay. The 50-member DWS is made up of outstanding high school and college musicians in the area who present four concerts a season that feature prominent guest artists.

Admission is $10 for general and $6 for students and senior citizens. Tickets will be available at the door or by calling the RCA ticket office at 925.943.7469.
