Members of the Boston Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps, the third oldest drum corps in America, celebrating their 75th anniversary; and the sixteen-time Drum Corps International World Champion Blue Devils from Concord, California will perform a one-of-a-kind concert with the Boston Pops Brass and Percussion.
Being held at the historic Tanglewood Music Center, Koussevitzky Music Shed, this exclusive night of performances will feature full and combined concerts from The Blue Devils, Boston Crusaders, and Boston Pops Brass and Percussion. Director of Artistic Planning Dennis Alves states, "We are so looking forward to combining the wonderful artists of the Boston Pops Brass and Percussion sections together with the fine musicians of two of the worlds top drum corps, The Blue Devils and the Boston Crusaders. The thought of experiencing these three great ensembles performing individually and together in the marvelous acoustics of the Koussevitzy Music Shed at Tanglewood is breathtaking. People will be talking about this singular event for years to come!"
The Boston Crusaders will team up with JetBlue to bring The Blue Devils to the New England area to celebrate their 75th Anniversary with special performances that begin with an all-star Drum Corps International performance at Gillette Stadium on July 2nd, and cap-off with the Tanglewood performance on July 6th.
Executive Director David Gibbs states, "The Blue Devils are extremely excited to share in this once in a lifetime performance at Tanglewood with the Boston Crusaders! This is a great opportunity for the Blue Devils to perform with a world class professional ensemble."
Boston Crusaders Corps Director Andy Waldukat adds, "The July 6th performance culminates a week of celebration for the Crusaders 75th Anniversary season. I could not imagine a better way to cap off the first part of the season than to share the stage with the Blue Devils and the Boston Pops at Tanglewood; two of the most recognized identities in music performance each summer. Drum Corps International has greatly contributed to the development of music education and performance majors in the last decades. This opportunity allows students to perform on one of the most significant stages in Orchestral Music."
