Diablo Wind Symphony Features Pianist Lino Rivera

The Diablo Wind Symphony will present its final concert of the season on Monday, May 19, 7:30 pm, at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek. The concert features the famed Bay Area pianist Lino Rivera performing a Bay Area debut of Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 2 transcribed for piano and wind orchestra by Glenn Disney.

The DWS will also perform Circus Bee March (Fillmore), Rikudim (Van der Roost) Symphonic Dance No. 3 “Fiesta” (Williams), March from Jazz Suite No. 2 (Shostakovich), Overture in Classical Style (Carter), and El Aparecido – Paso Doble (Martin).

The 46-member DWS is made up of outstanding high school and college musicians in the area who present four concerts a season that feature prominent guest artists.

Admission is $10 for general and $6 for students and senior citizens. Tickets will be available at the door or by calling the RCA ticket office at 925.943.7469.
