Beginning in 2008 with one snare drum camp, System Blue Live Events has now grown to serve over 800 students at nearly a dozen educational camps and clinics at locations across the US and the world.
Yesterday was the last day of the System Blue Leadership Camp. I wish it could of kept going. And now I am totally ready for band camp to start! - Jeff, Michigan
This year's System Blue season included Leadership, Drum Line and Guard camps held in Fresno and San Bernardino, California, Durango, Colorado and at the University of Minnesota, attracting highly-motivated young people from 19 states, Mexico and Canada.
In May a contingency of Blue Devil drum line members and staff presented a series of System Blue clinics in Vilnius, Lithuania to nearly 200 eager young students from Lithuania, Russia and Sweden, and in July a team of Blue Devil staff members presented a System Blue clinic at the Malaysia World Band Championships in Kuala Lumpur. In fact, since 2010 the System Blue Live Events program has presented clinics and Blue Devil performances in Guatemala, Taiwan, Brazil and Malaysia.
With a team of internationally-respected educators including Tim Lautzenheiser, Frank Tryoka, Todd Ryan, Scott Johnson, Wayne Downey, TJ Doucette, and John Meehan, and driven by a curriculum that includes active engagement with the members and staff of the Blue Devils, System Blue's goal is to provide students with the tools they need to reach their highest potential and to contribute to their bands as effective leaders.
"What the Blue Devils have done with these System Blue Clinics is exactly what we have been looking for" says Saugus HS (California ) guard coordinator Debbie Gibson. "You have brought the entire package together: great teachers, a well-thought out curriculum and meaningful interaction with the top performers in the Blue Devils. My guard captain is still talking about her experience at the camp!"
