Santa Clara adds Seattle show to string of wins

Seattle, Wn. - July 8, 1975. Tonight, in another very close contest among these three DCI corps, the Concord Blue Devils, with a score of 79.95 (0.0) bettered the Santa Clara Vanguard, 79.35 (0.1), and 27th Lancers, 78.15 (0.3) for a well-deserved victory in the Seattle Imperials DCI "Showcase of Sound". ...

I've seen these corps compete three times in the last week and the Blue Devils have performed consistently in all three. I absolutely love the sound of their horn line and enjoy their smooth, contemporary-sound style show very much. In tonight's penalty free show, the Blue Devils captured both the high drums and bugles captions, and outscored the Vanguard in M&M. As clean as their show looks and sounds to the observer, however, while wondering if they have peaked early, I feel that although they are scoring well in drums there is still room for improvement in both horn execution and M&M. Tonight I especially enjoyed their soloists - very fine.
