Everett, Mass. - Aug. 9, 1975. Tonight, the Concord Blue Devils became the 1975 World Open Champions with the highest score for a junior drum corps in a major national contest in the last fifteen years. Awarded a 91.05, the Blue Devils executed their high GE show well in all captions. Their horn line has got to be one of the finesst horn lines I've ever heard: they are soo-o-o sweet, so clean, so musical. Tonights' performance was their best of the year to date, that I've seen, and well deserving of a 91.05. The Blue Devil show has a style that I don't believe I've seen in any other national coontender for many years - perhaps since the Chicago Royal Airs. Their Buddy Rich, Tower of Power, and Chuck Mangione charts combine into a show with a very contemporary, "laid-back" but exciting style. A great show. ...
