"CHOPS" National Percussive
Arts Competition, a series of drumline contests, will launch its
premiere event Saturday June 5th 2010 in Santa Clarita, California
thanks to the generosity of its sponsorship team and the cooperation
between The Concord Blue Devils' "System Blue" and the creative arts
and entertainment firm, Aerial Experience Productions. The Blue
Devils have not only been an award winning drum corps, but a leading
influence in musical education. Their "system of excellence",
better known as "System Blue", delivers quality products, live
educational events and published materials to help develop the highest
worldwide standards for band directors, teachers, staff, designers,
performers and marching members. AEP, since its inception, has
been a leading influence in the integration of physical, visual and
musical arts in to large scale, multi-dimensional presentations.
Serving a wide ranging clientele from major PR firms and corporate
enterprise to the television and film industry, Aerial Experience
Productions is proud to partner with System Blue to offer this exciting
opportunity for drummers across the country to display their talents,
passion, individuality and creativity.
CHOPS declares, "the new age of percussive arts has arrived" as its
multi-discipline, artistic drumming competition series begins.
Weighted to highlight expression and creative artistry within the
bounds of the highly technical requirements of rudimental percussion,
performers are rewarded for their artistic stylings and showered with
cash prizes, armloads of give-aways and unique opportunities to
join AEP and BD on their creative journeys around the world.
This series of solo and small group drumline competitions will search
for uniquely talented artists with extraordinary chops...seeking out
America's Best Drummers! The first rounds of competition, being
held in Santa Clarita, CA, will feature solo snare drummers ages 13-21,
solo snare drummers ages 22 and over and small group ensembles of all
ages playing a combination of tenor and/or snare drums going head to
head in elimination rounds to win thousands in cash prize money, custom
instruments and an invitation to the 2010 National Finals. Events will
include guest judged competition rounds, showcase performances,
educational clinics and celebrity Q&A.
