Louis Cefalo 1929 - 2009

" Louis Angelo Cefalo July 31, 1929 - Nov. 24, 2009

Resident of San Ramon Louis Angelo Cefalo died peacefully on November 24, 2009 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Born on July 31, 1929 in Revere, MA, Louis was 80 years old. Louis grew up in Revere, MA and attended Revere High School where he met his wife Madeline. Following graduation, Louis enrolled in Boston's Wentworth Institute of Technology. Louis and Madeline married in 1952 and raised five children.

In 1971 Louis, with his family, moved to San Ramon, CA, where he has since resided. Passionate about his career, Louis spent 32 years as an engineer for AT&T and owned and managed two businesses: C&S Machine and Filson Machine. Upon retirement Louis joined the Contra Costa Sheriff's Office as a Sheriff Reserve Officer. Louis served his country for nine years as a US Navy Reserve. Louis was a lifetime member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), a registered professional engineer in the states of MA and CA, and a licensed general contractor.

In his spare time Louis enjoyed volunteering for the Concord Blue Devils Drum Corps where four of his children and one daughter in-law were members. Rick, Ron, Ginnie, Paul and Vivian

A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Louis is survived by his wife of 57 years Madeline; sister Charlotte Reid; children Kenneth and his wife Diana Cefalo, Richard and his wife Vivian Cefalo, Ronald and his wife Margo Cefalo, Virginia and her husband David Guthrie, Paul and his wife Jeanette Cefalo. He is also survived by grandchildren Melody Cefalo, Christine Cefalo, Joseph and his wife Venesa Cefalo, Kimberly Cefalo, Stephanie Cefalo, Kyle Cefalo, Allison Cefalo, Christina Cefalo, Joseph Guthrie, Matthew Guthrie, Andrew Cefalo, great-grandson Joseph Cefalo, and countless friends.

Louis is preceded in death by his parents Rose and Louis Cefalo and his sister Camille Messinger.

A memorial mass will be held

December 7 at 10:30am
St. Isidore Church
Danville, CA
