A select ensemble of The Blue Devils will be traveling to Japan in October to participate in the 20th Annual Marching in Okayama Festival. A contingent consisting of 24 brass players, 12 percussionists and 1 Drum Major will depart San Francisco International on October 3rd and return on October 9th. Upon arrival at Osaka's Kansai airport the group will motor coach to the city of Okayama, where they will be based.
There will be two days of rehearsal and sightseeing. The group then begins it's very diverse performance schedule. The Blue Devils will be making several television appearances, performing outdoor concerts, stage shows and a parade. In addition to their 2007 World Championship show “Winged Victory,” the repertoire will also include these fan favorites: “Free,” “Legend of the One Eyed Sailor,” “Since I Fell for You,” “Strike Up The Band” and “When a Man Loves a Woman.”
This will mark the third time The Blue Devils have appeared in Okayama. We are honored to have the opportunity to continue this wonderful friendship with the city of Okayama and the Marching In Okayama Festival!
The trip is co-sponsored by the City of Okayama, DEG/Japan, and Dynasty/USA.
