Concord, CA - February 15, 2001 - The Blue Devils "Open" Winter
Guard took first place at the Southern California Regional. The Regional was
held on February 10th and 11th in Riverside CA. Their score was 73.40 in finals(
to
see recap go to Winter Guard Page). The Open Guard has 18 highly motivated
members. In April the guard will travel to the WGI World Championships held in
Milwaukee, WI.
The Open Guard dominated the three Winter Guard Regional Competitions in 2000.
This is the second year in a row they have won each of these Regionals. The guard
maintained the highest score in the country for all of the 2000 season. This
is the third year in a row they have been ranked number ONE Nationally. The guard
has won four out of the last five California Circuit Championships.
The 2001 Program is performed to Roy Orbrisons "Crying" sung
by K.D. Lang. The staff includes Program Director Annette Odello with staff David
Meikle, Lindsey Leibeg, John Bradford, Jessica Allen, and Jay Murphy.
The Blue Devils "A" Guard took 2nd pave at the Southern California
Regional. They received two first places in movement and General Effect.The 2001
Blue Devils "A" Guard has 19 members. The guard is performing to "Orange
Colored Sky" by Nat King Cole and "Thats Life" by Frank
Sinatra. The staff is Jana Baxter and Shannon MacKintosh Morford.They are an
average age of 10 years old. The guard attended the Southern California Regional
and then spent the next day at Universal Studios. The "A guard is
currently the 2000 California Circuit Champions.
If you would like to see the Blue Devil Winter Guards they will appear at the
WGI Western Regional Competition on Saturday, March 17th at California State
University in Hayward, CA. Finals will be held on Sunday, March 18th at James
Logan High School in Union City. For performance times contact the Blue Devil
