Congratulations to the BD Open Winter Guard for two great performances at the
2003 Winter Guard International Championships in Dayton, Ohio. On Friday, April
11th the guard participated in the very competitive "Independent Open Class" preliminaries
at the Dayton Convention Center. The guard placed in the top 15 of the over 30
guards competing in this class and earned the opportunity to move on to finals
competition. On Saturday, April 12 the "Independent Open Class" finals
were held at the University of Dayton Arena. The Open Guard did another terrific
performance and placed 11th overall. Thanks to Annette Odello, program manager,
and staff members Dave Meikle, Lindsey Leibig, Jennie Millino, John Bradford,
and Jay Murphy for their hard work in producing this great program.
The Blue Devils would also like to congratulate BD staff members Jay Murphy,
Scott Chandler, Dave Meikle, and alumni Jessica Allen, Adrian Bazua, and Beth
Doebler-Karlin for their "World" class Gold medal wins with James Logan
High School (Scholastic division) and the San Jose Raiders (Independent division).
Additional congratulations go to BD staff members TJ Doucette for winning the "World" class
Bronze medal with Fantasia winter guard and Scott Johnson for winning the "World" class
percussion Silver medal with the Riverside Community College winter drumline.
To all the performers, designers and administrators who participated in the 2003
WGI Championships: BRAVO! It was a spectacular weekend of GREAT performances!
