Loving Memory of Barbara Jean Fryer-Glyde
Lemoore resident Barbara Jean Fryer-Glyde, 48, was born on July 24,
1957, in Key West, Florida, and passed away, surrounded by her loving
family, on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005, after a long and valiant fight with
cancer. Barbara, with the strength of a leader and a heart of gold,
deeply touched the lives of many people.
Barbara and family moved to Lemoore in 1960. Growing up in the Island
area, she went to Island School and graduated from Lemoore High School.
She went on to become a registered dental assistant and then grew so
well versed, proficient and knowledgeable that she taught dental
assisting at San Joaquin Valley College. Barbara earned her BA degree
and credential in teaching from CSU in Fresno. She then became an
elementary teacher in Fresno Unified Schools teaching in the first and
fifth grades. Barbara and her husband moved back to Lemoore to teach
and it is there where Barbara was most recently a first grade teacher.
Barbara s dedication to the art led her on to pursue and earn a master
s degree in teaching. Seeing and hearing Barbara in the classroom was
beyond amazing. She managed her classroom as she did her life with
unsurpassed passion, dedication and love. So many learned so much from
Barbara not only because of her strength and brilliance as a teacher
but also from her brilliance and integrity as a person. People describe
her, in letters and by mouth, as caring, funny, a family girl,
inspiring, full of life and the most loving, giving and golden of
hearts who would make people happy. Barbara had a special love for
animals and was very insightful and intuitive with them. She was
enamored all her life with horses and a totally dedicated and avid
horse woman. She always will be loved.
