20 || 22 - The Sapphire Summer
On Saturday night, The Blue Devils earned a score of 98.750 to round out an undefeated season and claim their 20th DCI World Championship Gold Medal at Drum Corps International’s 50th Anniversary Finals competition held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Returning to the field after 2 years away was no small task but our members, staff, and design team approached this challenge with dedication, artistry, and a commitment to excellence that propelled us through the 2022 season. We’ve enjoyed every step of this journey and thank you for joining us as we explored the dynamic history of the color blue.
"This summer was remarkable for a number of reasons, and I'm not sure who I'm more proud of – the 143 first year members who bought into The Blue Devils culture from the very beginning, or the 21 returning members from 2018/2019 who stepped up to the plate as role models and leaders," said Pat Seidling, Corps Director of The Blue Devils. "This miracle season was realized by everyone's commitment and passion. These members are the future and will ensure our organization thrives for years to come!"
Congratulations to all the amazing performers in all the groups and a special shoutout to Boston Crusaders AND Bluecoats on their historic and well earned 2nd place finishes. The drum corps activity is back in a big way, and we couldn’t be more excited for what the future holds.
Last but not least, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who had a hand in making this comeback season possible. From the generous donors and volunteers to our talented education and design staffs – we are so grateful for the support of our BD World. See you all again in 2023!
