Here at BD Performing Arts, we have the unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young people across the world. We welcome them to our programs, coaching them on AND off the field until they have developed into outstanding performers and even better human beings. Our alumni go on to do incredible things, and today we want to introduce you to someone whose experience with The Blue Devils led him to a successful career as a professional musician.
Meet Ryan Darke – Blue Devils brass alumni & Principal Trumpet at the LA Opera!
Ryan Darke grew up as a trumpet player with a passion for music and unmatched drive for success. He was blown away when he saw The Blue Devils in 1999, and by 2004 it was his turn to take the field. Ryan spent 2 years with the corps, chasing perfection while developing a strong work ethic and sense of dedication. These lessons carried through to his classical training and eventually landed him a position as Principal Trumpet with the LA Opera orchestra! In addition, Ryan's career as a professional musician has led him to travel the world with numerous prestigious ensembles, perform on big-time Hollywood movie scores, and teach a full studio at California State Long Beach where he completed his undergraduate studies.
Ryan is just one example of the profound impact that our programs have on the lives of growing performers around the world. And while we are proud of the role we play in his story, we couldn't do it without the generous support of people like YOU. This month, we're celebrating GivingTuesday on November 30 and we hope you'll join us by making a donation to BDPA so we can continue to help people like Ryan reach their full potential! Your gift can help make a difference, no matter the size.
