Job Description:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Brass Caption Head to join our team for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the brass section, coordinating with other staff members, and providing high-quality instruction to our young musicians. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with children, is skilled in communication, and can adapt to dynamic situations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to the skill levels of students aged 8-15.
• Provide hands-on instruction and mentorship to brass students, focusing on both individual development and group performance.
• Adapt teaching methods to fit the unique needs and learning styles of each student.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to both students and parents, ensuring a positive learning experience.
• Participate in staff meetings, rehearsals, and performances throughout the season.
• Recruit, supervise, and develop brass technicians to ensure a cohesive and high-quality instructional experience for students.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with other caption heads to ensure cohesion across the program.
• Collaborate with the staff coordinator to schedule rehearsals and ensure adequate staff coverage throughout the season.
• Join Blue Devils C on our summer tour (approximately June – Mid July).
• Create a comprehensive brass audition packet and supporting materials to ensure candidates are well-prepared and aligned with the program's expectations.
• Assist in the design process of the brass repertoire and/or field show (Optional).

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in teaching brass instruments, preferably in a marching or music education setting.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work well in a team environment.
• Experience working with children aged 8-15, with a strong understanding of child development and teaching strategies.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations and think creatively to solve problems.
• Availability during the summer months for rehearsals, performances, and related activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a similar role, such as a brass technician or instructor in a marching band or drum corps.
• A degree in music education or a related field is a plus.

Health & Wellness Position - Weekend Camps & Touring

The Blue Devils are seeking medical professionals who will join the BDPA medical team.  This position will  work with The Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps and all BD Performing Arts organizations as assigned.  This position will begin as soon as possible and will last through December 2023.

Certification & Licensure: Must be medically certified and possess state licensure, certification, or registration. CPR/AED and first aid certification are required (valid through August 2023).

Education: ADN, Bachelors Degree or Higher.

• Subject to a background screening
• Must acknowledge all BDPA contractor agreements and policies
