Shirley Stratton Dorritie specializes in training performers throughout the world for optimal achievement and serves as Performance Strategies Coordinator for The Blue Devils.

A licensed psychotherapist, with an MA in Body-Oriented Counseling Psychology and a Certificate in Sport Psychology, her work spans a broad spectrum of individuals and groups—including performers, athletes, educators, corporate executives, and first-responders—who are required to manage their responses to the pressure of performance in order to perform at their best, regardless of the conditions. A member of the DCI Hall of Fame, the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame, and the Winter Guard Association of Southern California’s Order of Excellence, Shirley has enjoyed a long and varied career with the Blue Devils and the Pageantry Arts. She joined the Blue Devils Drum & Bell Corps in 1968 and was a founding member of the Drum & Bugle Corps in 1970. A member of the BD rifle line through 1977, she also instructed the line and served as Color Guard captain. After aging out, Shirley designed and instructed the BD guard until 1984; leading the program through the transition from military to modern, introducing spandex, sequins, and the “wings.” She was part of the management team from 1981-1984, served as Office Manager from 1997-2003, and helped co-found the A Corps Color Guard alumni collective, BETTYs Giving Back, in 2018. Her credits also include numerous other drum corps, marching band, and winter guard programs such as the Santa Clara Vanguard, Arizona Academy, Clovis West High School, and James Logan High School.

A leader and innovator in competitive Marching Band and Winter Color Guard adjudication, Shirley is also the Director of Adjudication Philosophy for USBands, Judge Development Manager for Winter Guard International, and Director of Judge Education for the Winter Guard Association of Southern California.
