Carlos Botello began his DCI marching career with Lone Star Drum and Bugle Corps in 1995-1997 marching snare all three years. In 1999 he was an age out of Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps, placing 4th at DCI Midwest I&E, 3rd at DCI I&E, 3rd at the Percussive Arts Society College snare drum individual’s competition. In 2000, he also played snare in the Blue Knights WGI World Class Champion Percussion Ensemble, and took 2nd place at the Percussive Arts Society College snare drum individual’s competition. Botello has marched and studied with percussion instructors Mickey Hartzog, John Wooton, Allan Murray, Brian Stevens, Doug Rosener, and Curtis Pierre. Botello holds a B.A. in Music Education from New Mexico Highlands University and teaches High School band at Naaman Forest High School. He has instructed and arranged for many groups including Lake Wood High School Winter Drumline in 2000(Percussion Staff); Manzano High School Marching Band & Winter Drumline in 2003-2004(Arranger/Caption Head); 2005 Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps(Percussion Staff), 2006-2011 Revolution Drum and Bugle Corps(Percussion Staff). Botello is employed by Naaman Forest High School as a Assistant Band Director/Percussion Specialist. Botello is currently starting his 4th season as a percussion instructor/electronic sound designer for Blue Devils B Drum and Bugle Corps from Concord California, and is endorsed by ProMark drum sticks, and Evans Drum Heads.
