Anthony Lanzino is the director of bands at Whitney M. Young Magnet High School in Chicago. The Whitney Young band department is comprised of a Beginning Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, 6 Jazz Combos, Woodwind and Brass Quintets. Before becoming the director of bands at Whitney Young, Mr. Lanzino spent seven years as an associate director of bands at James Logan High School in Union City, California. While there, ensembles to which Mr. Lanzino contributed performed at the BOA National Concert Band Festival, the Midwest Clinic, Carnegie Hall, the Edinburgh Easter Music Festival, and the Reno, Fullerton and Pacific Coast Collegiate Jazz Festivals. Mr. Lanzino was the brass coordinator for the 250-member James Logan marching band and color guard. During his tenure there the group won six Western Band Association championships and performed at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Tournament of Roses Parade.
Mr. Lanzino is a graduate of San Jose State University where he studied trombone with Robert Szabo. He was a member of DUB FX (Pyramid recording artists) for eight years and has worked in numerous bands and recording projects on trombone and electric bass. He has been on the brass staff of the Blue Devils B Corps and has been the Music Caption Head for the Yamato Drum and Bugle Corps. Since 2007, he has taught the Concord Blue Devils A Corps.
